How to Split a PDF and Extract the Pages You Need

You may receive a large PDF even though you only need a few pages. Splitting lets you create a smaller document containing only the relevant material.

This is useful for statements, contracts, scanned packages, reports, and application documents.

Choose the source document, then enter the pages you want. Use a hyphen for a range, such as 2-5, and commas for separate selections, such as 1-3,5,7.

Create the new PDF, download it, and verify that the pages appear in the intended order before sharing or submitting it.

Enter 1-4 to extract the first four pages. Enter 2,5,8 to keep three separate pages. Enter 1-3,7-9 to combine two ranges in one new PDF.

Check the page count in your PDF viewer first. A range cannot include a page number beyond the end of the source document.

Splitting is useful when you want to create a separate file from selected pages. Deleting pages is better when you want to keep most of the original document but remove a few unwanted pages.
